Mustafa Ali is staying put. The former X-Division Champion recently opened up about his decision to re-sign with TNA Wrestling in a candid interview with Rewind Recap Relive. Ali, who inked his new deal in January, explained that the creative freedom and synergy he found within the promotion were the driving forces behind his choice.
“TNA and me specifically, it’s just this synergy. It’s this fit,” Ali explained. He praised his relationship with the creative team, noting that his opinionated nature is welcomed rather than stifled. “I have ideas, I have visions. I want to say like nine times out of 10, you know, they kind of see the vision with me… Selfishly, I was looking to be creatively fulfilled, and I feel like the best chance I had of doing that is with TNA.”
Interestingly, Ali revealed that he committed to the company before knowing about their major television deal with AMC. “I actually was negotiating this deal before I even knew about the network deal being finalized… So it was kind of like a, I re-signed and then a couple of weeks later, oh, we’re on TV as well with AMC. So it was like a nice little cherry on top.”
Ali is next scheduled to face Elijah in a unique “Guitar Casket Match” on next week’s episode of Impact, continuing his run as one of the brand’s most featured performers.
