CM Punk Wants WWE At Wrigley Field

CM Punk remains one of the most vocal advocates for his hometown of Chicago. The current World Heavyweight Champion still wants to bring a major WWE event to the iconic Wrigley Field. The historic baseball stadium serves as the home of the Chicago Cubs.

WWE has successfully run a number of baseball stadiums over the years. They recently held the Survivor Series premium live event at Petco Park, which is the home of the San Diego Padres. The outdoor aesthetics always provide a unique atmosphere for professional wrestling.

Appearing on the Rock 95.5 radio station, Punk was directly asked about the possibility of bringing WWE to Wrigley Field in Chicago. He confirmed that conversations are already happening behind the scenes. The top star is pushing hard to make the dream a reality.

“Oh yes. I’ve had discussions with some executives, I’ll say. Yeah, they 100% want it,” Punk stated.

He then elaborated on the logistical challenges that come with booking the historic venue.

“The hard thing for us is the scheduling and getting in. We need load in and load out day,” he explained.

The rigorous production demands of a wrestling broadcast require significant preparation time.

“Believe it or not, it’s probably a lot easier for Wrigley to book Green Day because they don’t have the man hours for load in,” Punk noted.

He compared the setup of a standard rock concert to the large infrastructure needed for a wrestling ring and lighting rig.

“They are doing a stage, some sound, and that’s technically it. You need a little more time to roll our trucks in there and set things up because our production is that much more than a rock concert,” he detailed.

The amount of steel, wiring, and personnel required is truly staggering to coordinate in a short timeframe.

“We’ve been in discussions with it, it’s just going to make it so much easier to get it done if there is no baseball,” he ended.

Coordinating with the Major League Baseball schedule remains the biggest hurdle for the creative team to overcome.

While a stadium show at Wrigley Field remains a future goal, Punk is currently focused on defending his gold in a different Chicago arena. He will put his World Heavyweight Championship on the line against Finn Balor tonight at the Elimination Chamber premium live event. The highly expected broadcast takes place at the United Center, with the winner moving on to face 2026 Royal Rumble winner Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 42.
