AEW
Danhausen has officially been removed from the active AEW roster page. The charismatic wrestler was still listed on the page as of Friday, February 27. He no longer appears anywhere on the official website roster.
In the past, this digital update has served as a clear indicator that a wrestler has left the promotion. Throughout Friday, the popular performer tweeted several indications of being entirely free from his contract. These social media posts caught the immediate attention of his supporters.
The cryptic posts included an image of the Genie from the movie “Aladdin” losing his metal shackles. He also shared a link to the song “Freedom Slam” by the band Freedom. These specific updates led many viewers to believe his tenure with the company has finally ended.
Danhausen originally signed his contract with AEW in January 2022. He debuted during a special television broadcast and quickly became a featured act on the weekly programming. He was closely aligned with the Best Friends faction as a comedic babyface.
He also formed a highly popular tag team with HOOK during his time with the promotion. The mismatched duo entertained audiences and sold a significant amount of merchandise together. Despite his early momentum and strong connection with the crowd, his television appearances eventually became much less frequent.
In August 2025, he formally requested his release from the promotion to pursue other opportunities. However, the company declined the request, and his contract was actually extended due to accumulated injury time. The extension kept him tied to the promotion through the early months of 2026.
Now, it appears that the required injury time has finally expired. He is currently expected to test the free agent market in the coming weeks. Many WWE fans have openly wondered if he will make the jump to the Stamford-based promotion.
He has built a strong connection with audiences that could translate well to a different television environment. However, recent reports indicate that WWE is not actively looking to bring in new talent at this specific moment. He may choose to return to the independent circuit where he initially built his unique character.
Regardless of his next destination, he remains a recognizable figure in the professional wrestling landscape. The industry will be watching closely to see where he decides to sign his next contract. He will undoubtedly bring his loyal fanbase with him to whatever promotion he joins next.
While Danhausen begins to navigate the open waters of free agency, the remaining AEW roster is currently preparing for their next major event. The company is heading toward the Revolution pay-per-view, which takes place on Sunday, March 15, 2026, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, California. The premium live event features MJF defending the AEW World Championship against “Hangman” Adam Page in a brutal Texas Death Match. If Page loses the high-stakes bout, he will never be able to challenge for the AEW World Championship ever again. Additionally, Jon Moxley is scheduled to defend the AEW Continental Championship against Konosuke Takeshita in a match with no time limit.
