Next week’s WWE SmackDown from Raleigh, North Carolina is shaping up to be a loaded show, with a high-stakes match, a celebrity confrontation, and a Women’s Tag Team Championship match all confirmed.
Jacob Fatu and Drew McIntyre will finally square off after weeks of escalating tensions. McIntyre had opened this past Friday’s SmackDown by declaring he had quit, only to later reveal it as a ruse — jumping Fatu during his match with Trick Williams and throwing him into the turnbuckle, contributing to Fatu’s defeat. In response, Nick Aldis booked the two for a match next week in Raleigh.
The Bella Twins have earned a shot at the Women’s Tag Team Championships after a chaotic segment on Friday’s show. Nia Jax and Lash Legend retained the titles over Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss after Brie Bella attacked Jax in retaliation for being laid out — inadvertently costing Flair and Bliss the match. The segment ended with Jax and Legend standing tall over both teams. Next week, the Bellas will get their turn as official challengers.
Additionally, Kit Wilson is set to call out music star Jelly Roll after a heated confrontation on Miz TV this past Friday. Jelly Roll rejected The Miz’s offer to mentor him, and Wilson jumped in to call him toxic. Things escalated to a shove, and Jelly Roll accidentally struck The Miz while swinging at Wilson. The fallout continues next week.
Rounding out the card, the Motor City Machine Guns — Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley — will face Fraxiom, with dissension teased between Sabin and Shelley as Sabin reportedly resents Shelley’s efforts to help a struggling Johnny Gargano.
