Nikki Bella has disclosed the full extent of the ankle injury that kept her out of WrestleMania 42 Night One — and the damage is far worse than the “sprained ankle” language that had been used in earlier reports. Taking to Instagram on Saturday, Bella revealed she fractured, tore, and sprained her ankle, describing it as “a painful two weeks” while confirming she has already undergone surgery.
“Fractured, tore and sprained my ankle. It’s been a painful two weeks,” Bella wrote, noting she will share more details soon — likely on her and Brie’s podcast. The extent of the injury explains why she remained in a walking boot heading into WrestleMania weekend despite her repeated public insistence that she would find a way to compete. At the WrestleMania 42 post-show, Bella revealed she had surgery in Birmingham, Alabama, adding the detail that she happened to see Paige there at the same time — a meeting that apparently played a role in how the Paige substitution came together. The 42-year-old’s recovery timeline is currently unknown.
