Update on CM Punk’s Status With WWE After the WrestleMania 42 Hotel Incident Is Now Official

A new development has emerged in the CM Punk hotel controversy from WrestleMania 42 weekend — TMZ has obtained 911 audio from a separate incident to the now widely-known phone-knocking footage, with a Spanish-speaking caller reporting that Punk shoved him in the chest at the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas on April 20.

The caller, assisted by a female interpreter, identified Punk as the aggressor and claimed the wrestler shoved him in the chest when he got close while hoping for an autograph. The caller described the encounter in Spanish as a violent assault, though the interpreter’s translation did not include the words violently or assault. A physical description of Punk was provided, with the caller noting that his face was red and full of anger during the encounter.

Officers from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department responded to the disturbance and spoke with all parties involved. No report was filed and Punk was free to leave. This incident is separate from the previously reported footage in which Punk knocked a phone out of a fan’s hand after the fan followed Bayley and AJ Lee into an elevator bank — a situation that resulted in the fan asking for a handshake and an apology rather than pursuing legal action.

WWE Talent Were Unanimous That TKO Needs to Invest in Proper Hotel Security After WrestleMania 42

The two Punk incidents exist within a broader pattern of fan behavior concerns that multiple WWE performers have raised publicly since WrestleMania 42. Booker T revealed a fan filmed him in the bathroom. Sean Waltman said he was physically assaulted and had a camera shoved in his face. Damian Priest stepped in to help a female WWE talent get away from fans. AJ Styles described being swarmed like bees despite repeatedly saying no to photos. Fightful Select reported the situation was compared internally to WCW backstage chaos and that talent across multiple locker rooms were unanimous that TKO and WWE need to invest in proper hotel security at major events going forward.
