Francois Prinsloo has announced his release from WWE in a heartfelt social media statement, joining the growing list of performers to depart the company in the post-WrestleMania 42 period. The 24-year-old South African discus thrower — who competed in the 2024 Paris Olympics before signing with WWE in 2025 — expressed both gratitude for his time with the company and hunger for what comes next.
“WWE has been nothing but a blessing for me. It has easily been one of the hardest challenges I’ve had to face and yet I wouldn’t have had it any other way. Through this journey I was able to learn a lot about myself, the world and the beautiful people in it. It reignited my passion and talent for acting and speaking. WWE also showed me how much further I could push my limits,” Prinsloo wrote. He closed with a quote that signaled his competitive fire remains very much intact: “A wise man once told me: ‘the wolf climbing the mountain is always hungrier than the one at the top,’ and unfortunately, I’ve been left starving… but we’ll talk more about that later.”
Prinsloo grew up in South Africa and represented his nation at the 2018 African Youth Games before going on to compete at the Paris Olympics. He signed with WWE in 2025 as part of the company’s ongoing recruitment of elite athletes from outside professional wrestling. His departure adds another name to a post-WrestleMania 42 release list that has already included the Wyatt Sicks, Motor City Machine Guns, Kairi Sane, Aleister Black, and Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods of the New Day.
