WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event on May 23 from Fort Wayne, Indiana has added two championship matches following announcements on this week’s Raw. WWE revealed that The Vision will defend the World Tag Team Championships against The Street Profits, while Intercontinental Champion Penta will put his title on the line against Ethan Page. Both matches were set up through Monday night segments that gave each program clear forward momentum heading into the special.
Saturday Nights Main Event Tag Title Match Set
The Street Profits have been a thorn in Austin Theory and Logan Paul’s side ever since returning on the Raw following WrestleMania 42. The two teams met face-to-face in the opening segment, with Montez Ford declaring they were coming for the titles. Joe Hendry came out and performed his “Fire Logan Paul” song before joining The Street Profits to defeat Bron Breakker, Logan Paul, and Theory in a six-man tag. Seth Rollins ran in and laid out Breakker, and the distraction allowed Angelo Dawkins to pin Theory with a schoolboy. The pin earned the Profits their formal title shot at Saturday Night’s Main Event.
Penta vs. Ethan Page Intercontinental Title Match Announced
Later in the night, Penta arrived to challenge Ethan Page directly. Page responded by claiming that pinning Penta last week earned him a title shot. Penta offered to defend the title on the spot, but Page said he wasn’t ready and instead challenged Penta to a match at Saturday Night’s Main Event. Penta accepted, saying he was ready for war. The match gives Page his first major singles championship opportunity on the main roster and Penta his next high-profile defense of the Intercontinental Title. Both bouts will likely dominate the build-up over the next two weeks of programming as WWE rolls into Fort Wayne with two title matches already in place.
