Blake Monroe and Lyra Valkyria have both expressed public interest in competing in the John Cena Classic, with Monroe naming a specific opponent and Valkyria pointing to a dream matchup rooted in personal history.
Speaking to Marca, Monroe made clear she expects to be part of the event.
“Of course I want to be part of it. It looks like it’s going to be a huge tournament, and obviously you need to headline it with a big name like the glamorous Blake Monroe. As for who I’d like to face — I just escaped from the NXT women, they were giving me a hard time. But we have so much talent. I’d love to face Tatum again because we have unfinished business after she put me in a coffin.”
Valkyria separately told Witty Whitter that she would want to face NXT Women’s North American Champion Tatum Paxley, citing a specific motivation.
“I want to see if she stepped up.”
The John Cena Classic, announced at Backlash, will pit main roster talent against NXT wrestlers with fans voting to determine the championship winner regardless of match result. No date, venue, or confirmed participants have been announced by WWE.
