Ludwig Kaiser has entered a not guilty plea in his Florida battery case and is requesting a trial, with his legal team simultaneously launching a deeper investigation into the evidence, per court records.
Attorney Thomas D. Sommerville has been retained to handle the misdemeanor case. The filing includes the statement: “The Defendant requests a Trial of the said charges.” A waiver means Kaiser is not required to appear at the standard arraignment hearing in person. A Notice of Intent to Participate in Discovery has also been entered.
A new account of the incident has circulated via former WrestlingInc owner Raj Giri, who reported that Kaiser and his girlfriend Andrea Bazarte were being affectionate but not acting inappropriately in the elevator, and that the complainant Richard Reap allegedly threatened to call ICE on Bazarte during the subsequent confrontation before the alleged attack. This account has not been confirmed by police or court documents. The arrest affidavit states that Reap told officers he was punched multiple times, pushed to the ground, and threatened with further violence, and that surveillance footage from the 12th floor showed a white male punching and pushing Reap outside the elevator around the reported time.
An AAA “Serenata for El Grande Americano” event in Mexico City that Kaiser was advertised for has been cancelled following the arrest. His attorney has filed a motion to allow him to travel internationally for WWE and AAA commitments, with the state attorney indicating no objection. Kaiser’s Mask vs. Mask match against Chad Gable at AAA Noches de Los Grandes on May 30 in Monterrey remains scheduled.
