AJ Styles has praised Will Ospreay for executing the Styles Clash on Samoa Joe at AEW Double or Nothing, calling it a difficult move to hit on Joe that Ospreay pulled off flawlessly.
Speaking on his Phenomenally Retro Podcast, Styles was impressed by the moment and reminisced about Ospreay’s history with his signature moves.
“I can tell you, hitting Joe with the Styles Clash is not an easy task. I’ve done it a couple times in my career, but man, he pulled it off flawlessly. He can do it. I’ve seen him do it. He hit a standing one on me. Not off the top rope, just a standing one on me. When we wrestled each other years ago, not only did he hit me with the leapfrog drop down dropkick, and then he hit me with my own Spiral Tap too.”
Ospreay used the Styles Clash on Joe during their Owen Hart Foundation Tournament quarterfinal match at Double or Nothing — the first time Joe had taken the move in seven years. Ospreay has said the TNA match between Styles, Joe and Christopher Daniels from Unbreakable 2005 was the match that made him want to become a professional wrestler.
