The interactions between Brock Lesnar and Oba Femi during Saturday night’s Royal Rumble seemed to point in one undeniable direction: a collision of titans at WrestleMania 42. However, despite the in-ring teasing, a new report suggests that the “meat match” fans are clamoring for is far from a done deal. According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, the bout is not guaranteed for WWE‘s biggest show of the year.
Meltzer: “I Was Told This One’s Not 100 Percent”
During the Men’s Royal Rumble match, Lesnar and Femi had a brief but explosive exchange. Lesnar got the better of the rookie, hitting him with a German suplex before eliminating him. Femi, the former NXT Champion, had an impressive showing, lasting 39 minutes after entering at number one, but his night ended at the hands of “The Beast.” Lesnar himself was eliminated shortly after by the team of Cody Rhodes and LA Knight.
While the elimination set the stage for a natural grudge match in Las Vegas, Meltzer urged caution. “That’s not 100 per cent by the way…it could happen. I’m not saying it’s not happening. I’m just saying that I was told this one’s not 100 per cent,” Meltzer reported on Wrestling Observer Radio. With Roman Reigns vs. CM Punk already official for the event, the rest of the card for April 18 and 19 remains in flux, leaving Femi’s WrestleMania destiny uncertain.
