The fallout from the Royal Rumble is already taking shape for next week’s episode of SmackDown. In a segment aired this week, Shinsuke Nakamura came face-to-face with one-half of the WWE Tag Team Champions, Tama Tonga. The two men, whose history dates back to their tenure in New Japan Pro Wrestling, traded verbal jabs before setting up a match for the show in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Tonga instigated the conflict by claiming that “the old Nakamura” would have been able to take out AJ Styles, referencing Nakamura’s recent loss to “The Phenomenal One” at Saturday Night’s Main Event. Nakamura responded in Japanese before issuing the challenge. With Tonga and Solo Sikoa currently reigning as champions after defeating the Wyatt Sicks, this singles bout offers Nakamura a chance to reassert himself against The Bloodline.
