Nia Jax has been at the center of some of the most talked-about moments in WWE history, both scripted and accidental. During a recent appearance on the Insight podcast, the former Women’s Champion opened up about two specific incidents that drew massive fan reaction: breaking Becky Lynch’s nose in 2018 and the recent spot that left Jade Cargill bloody.
Jax recalled the panic she felt after accidentally punching Lynch during the Raw invasion angle. “I didn’t realize it was Becky. I thought it was Lana… I felt it, and I was just like, oh ****!” Jax admitted she thought she was going to be fired. However, Vince McMahon’s reaction was surprisingly calm. “Vince was like, ’It’s not ballet, ****’s gonna happen.’” She noted that the heat from the incident actually changed the plans for Survivor Series, with McMahon telling her, “Finish change, Nia over… when you go out there, you show your fist and you smile.”
Jax also addressed the more recent incident involving Jade Cargill and the steel steps. “That was weird, because I know I’m strong. But yeah, I didn’t realize that even happened,” Jax explained. She admitted she was shocked when she saw the extent of the cut later. “It was definitely different… that was pretty scary.”
Jax also took time to praise Lyra Valkyria for taking her “Annihilator” finisher. “I just remember landing, all 270 pounds of me were into Lyra’s rib cage. So she took it like a champ. I give her all the credit.”
