Bron Breakker vs. Seth Rollins At WrestleMania 42 “In Jeopardy”

The card for WWE WrestleMania 42 may be losing one of its marquee matchups. Following the news that Bron Breakker suffered a legitimate injury on last week’s Raw, a new report from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter indicates that his scheduled bout against Seth Rollins in Las Vegas is now “in jeopardy.” Breakker underwent emergency surgery for a “serious hernia” and has been listed as out of action indefinitely.

Dave Meltzer provided specific details on the timeline during Wrestling Observer Radio, painting a concerning picture for the former Intercontinental Champion. “He’ll be out for a while… Could be 12 weeks, could be six months at worst,” Meltzer stated. He clarified that Breakker’s procedure was not a standard laparoscopy, which typically requires a two-month recovery, but rather a “major operation” due to the severity of the hernia. Meltzer noted that the issue had been plaguing Breakker “for a while” and that the injury angle at the Royal Rumble and Raw was not the cause, but rather a way to write him off television after the condition worsened.

Meltzer also addressed extreme rumors circulating online, specifically shutting down talk that the injury could be career-ending. “I think that’s kind of an exaggeration, he’ll come back,” Meltzer affirmed. However, with the timeline potentially stretching to six months, his participation in April’s showcase event seems increasingly unlikely. This leaves Seth Rollins without a confirmed opponent for the two-night spectacular, forcing creative to potentially pivot just weeks before the show.

If Breakker is unable to compete, it would be a significant blow to the card for WrestleMania 42, which is set to take place at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on April 18 and 19, 2026. This event marks a historic return to “Sin City” for the second consecutive year, following the massive financial success of WrestleMania 41 at the same venue. With the company looking to fill the 65,000-seat stadium for two straight nights again, losing a high-profile match like Breakker vs. Rollins puts added pressure on the remaining top stars to deliver a card worthy of the “Showcase of the Immortals.”
