Wrestling veteran Dutch Mantell has weighed in on the sluggish ticket sales for WrestleMania 42, placing the blame squarely on the pricing strategy implemented by TKO. Speaking on his podcast, Story Time With Dutch Mantell, the industry legend argued that the high costs are alienating the core fanbase. “TKO, God bless them, but they don’t understand, apparently, economics. You cannot make wrestling so expensive that the people can’t afford it,” Mantell stated.
Mantell expressed shock at ticket prices reaching $700, noting that he wouldn’t pay that even as a fan. “I’m not going to sit there for three hours to pay $200 an hour to sit there and watch it,” he quipped. He also critiqued the current creative direction, suggesting that if the product were hotter, the prices might not be such a deterrent. “I’ve got an idea for them. How about putting out something people want to see? That would help.”
Recent reports from the F4wonline.com confirm that ticket distribution for the event in Las Vegas is trailing significantly behind last year’s pace. In response, Allegiant Stadium recently announced a 25% discount code (“WINTER”) to spur sales, indicating that the company is aware of the pushback on pricing as they attempt to fill the stadium for two consecutive nights.
