AEW Could Extend Britt Baker’s Contract Into 2027

During a recent Q&A session on Fightful Select, Britt Baker’s continued absence from All Elite Wrestling programming was addressed. The former champion has not been seen on television in quite some time. When asked about Baker’s status, Sean Ross Sapp clarified that she is still under contract with the promotion. He also noted that AEW holds the option to extend the agreement due to missed time.

Sapp stated, “She’s under contract for a number of months and then AEW could add time to her deal.” He explained that while the company normally might not utilize that option, the current circumstances make it highly likely. He continued, “Which normally I wouldn’t think that they would, but now it seems like absolutely something that they would do.”

AEW Could Extend Britt Baker’s Contract Into 2027

This business strategy is often used when talent misses significant time due to injuries or personal reasons. Sapp elaborated on the reasoning behind the potential extension. “I mean, she missed like a long time due to some physical ailments and issues.” He then projected how long she could theoretically remain with the brand.

“So she could be under contract well into 2027, maybe even the — I don’t know, but I’ve not heard of her being brought up.” If AEW chooses to exercise that specific clause, Baker’s contract could stretch deep into the year 2027. Professional wrestling fans have endlessly debated whether she would ever make the jump to a competing organization.

Baker was the undisputed face of the women’s division during the early years of the company. Her absence has allowed other stars to step into the spotlight and claim main event positions. However, her unique charisma and star power are undeniable assets that the promotion surely wants to retain. A healthy return would instantly inject new life into the current storylines.

AEW is currently finalizing plans for their upcoming pay-per-view events this spring. A surprise return for the inaugural female signee would undoubtedly generate significant momentum for the women’s division. The roster is preparing to deliver high-quality matches as the television product heats up in the coming months.
