New Champions Crowned On WWE SmackDown

The women’s tag team division experienced a massive shakeup during the latest television broadcast. New WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions have officially been crowned. The title change alters the landscape of the division as the company heads toward the spring season.

Nia Jax and Lash Legend, collectively known as The Irresistible Forces, defeated Rhea Ripley and IYO SKY to win the titles. It marks their very first time capturing the championships as a unified team. The physical bout featured heavy-hitting offense from all four competitors.

The finish saw Ripley tag into the match and lay out Jax with the Riptide maneuver. However, Legend managed to come in from behind without Ripley noticing. Legend planted Ripley with the Lash Extension and pinned her to win the titles for her team.

Later backstage, the two powerhouse athletes were shown celebrating their victory. Jax noted that she was now a three-time Tag Team Champion in her career. She also highlighted that Legend had just won her very first title since joining WWE.

They proudly announced that they would hold an official championship celebration on next week’s episode of SmackDown. The two women have been teaming up regularly since last fall when Legend was called up to the main roster. In recent weeks, they have been competing under the name The Irresistible Forces, which is a play off of Jax’s classic nickname.

The two teams previously met on the February 13 edition of SmackDown. That specific encounter ended in a no contest when all four women started to brawl on the outside of the ring. Ripley and SKY had been champions for 54 days before losing the belts.

They originally defeated The Kabuki Warriors on the January 5 edition of Raw to start their reign. Ripley will now have to shift her focus from tag team wrestling back to singles competition. The title loss frees her up for other major opportunities.

Ripley is scheduled to compete in the Women’s Elimination Chamber match on February 28, 2026, at the United Center in Chicago. She will battle Tiffany Stratton, Alexa Bliss, Asuka, Kiana James, and Raquel Rodriguez inside the steel structure. The winner will advance to challenge Jade Cargill for the WWE Women’s Championship at WrestleMania 42.
