The Usos were originally set to defend the World Tag Team Championships against Logan Paul and Austin Theory on Monday’s Raw in Boston — but the match was quietly downgraded to a non-title bout. According to Bryan Alvarez of the Wrestling Observer, the belief is that the change was made so the champions could appear with the titles on Wednesday during MLB Opening Day festivities on Netflix, when the Yankees face the San Francisco Giants.
The non-title match itself ended in disqualification when Jey Uso struck Austin Theory with Logan Paul’s brass knuckles directly in front of the referee. The result further inflamed the situation, with Paul Heyman storming backstage afterward and demanding a championship match from Adam Pearce. Pearce agreed to take it under consideration, and a street fight for the World Tag Team titles was subsequently confirmed for next week’s Raw at Madison Square Garden.
Jimmy and Jey were also involved in the Raw main event, which featured a war of words between Jey and CM Punk. Roman Reigns came out to remove his cousins from the equation — but not before spearing Punk and powerbombing him through a table. The last image of Raw showed Punk smiling through the wreckage, telling officials he’s not the one who needs help, leaving the WrestleMania 42 build with plenty of unresolved intensity heading into MSG.
