Kit Wilson has nothing but respect for Jelly Roll heading into their WWE SmackDown showdown on March 27 — and the former NXT Tag Team Champion made that clear in a new interview with Sports Illustrated published hours before their match.
“A lot of the time in wrestling it’s who has the biggest heart, who has the most passion. And that is one thing Jelly has in spades. This is a man who cares. This is a man who has heart and who has passion. That’s what’s gotten him to be as successful as he is right now in the entertainment industry,” Wilson said.
Despite the acknowledgment of Jelly Roll’s passion, Wilson made it equally clear that he plans to establish his dominance in the ring and use the match as a platform for bigger things. “No matter how good it goes, no matter how crazy it gets, it’s always gonna be entertaining. I can promise you that the match Friday is gonna be one of the most entertaining things on the show.”
Wilson also spoke about the personal stakes involved. “I don’t take this lightly. This is a big deal. I’m gonna make the most of it in every single category. In the ring, I’m gonna show my dominance. This is just a launching pad to bigger and better things.” Speculation continues to point toward Wilson teaming with The Miz to face Jelly Roll and Royce Keys at WrestleMania 42, making Friday’s singles match a crucial piece of that developing storyline.
