AJ Lee has made no secret of her desire to make up for lost time since returning to WWE — and in a new interview with Sports Illustrated, she laid out an ambitious list of opponents she wants to share the ring with, spanning both familiar rivals from her first run and the new generation of women’s division stars.
On the nostalgia side, Lee specifically called out the Bella Twins and Naomi as performers she wants to revisit. “I think the fans would really love to see me and the Bellas again, or me and Naomi. We never really got to like kill it, but she is just one of those people who every time I was in the ring with her, I felt so at my absolute best. She brings that out of you,” Lee said.
Lee’s ambitions extend well beyond rekindling old rivalries. She also named Lyra Valkyria, Roxanne Perez, Liv Morgan, Stephanie Vaquer, and Rhea Ripley as performers she is eager to work with. “There’s such an abundance of wonderful, exciting new talent that I think can show me so much. The way my generation maybe started an evolution, they continue it and now we can learn from them. And it’s this really cool circle of moving the business forward. So I’d love to get in there with Lyra and Roxanne and Liv and Stephanie and Rhea. There are so many people that would just be a blast to work with.” Lee currently holds the Women’s Intercontinental Championship and defends it against Becky Lynch at WrestleMania 42 on April 18 and 19 in Las Vegas.
