Matt Cardona Addresses His WWE Win-Loss Record After SmackDown Loss:

Matt Cardona was not originally scheduled to compete on Friday’s SmackDown — and he made sure everyone knew it, while also using the moment to address his running win-loss record since returning to WWE. Cardona lost to Trick Williams in the match that was set up in a backstage segment earlier in the show, dropping to 0-5 in singles competition since his return win over Kit Wilson on January 2.

Taking to social media after the show, Cardona reframed the evening as a demonstration of his readiness rather than a reflection of his defeats. “I wasn’t originally booked to wrestle yesterday on SmackDown. I was just going to film a commercial and maybe even fly home early. I still showed up in shape, tan, and ready to go. Guess what happened? Things changed and I got a match. I was — wait for it — Alwayz Ready. In my mind, that’s how it’s supposed to be. If you want opportunities, show up prepared, no matter what.”

Matt Cardona Says His Career Record Across 20 Years Shows He Loses a Lot but Wins Big When It Matters

Rather than defending or deflecting from the losing streak, Cardona put it in the context of his broader career history — arguing that his overall record actually validates rather than undermines his self-assessment. “I didn’t get the win against Trick Williams. And yes, I’ve lost more matches than I’ve won since I returned to WWE. But check my win-loss record over my 20-plus years in this business, even the past five years that I spent on the indies. I lose a lot. But when I win, I win big.” He closed with a three-word statement that left no room for interpretation. “I’m not finished.” Cardona’s WWE return has been built around the goal of eventually challenging for the WWE Championship — a stated ambition he has been open about since his comeback. The losses may be stacking up on television, but the larger narrative he is writing for himself clearly operates on a longer timeline.
