Charlotte Flair has opened up about the double-edged reality of being Ric Flair’s daughter in professional wrestling — and while her father’s unwavering public support is clearly touching on some level, she has also admitted with characteristic humor that his enthusiasm has its downsides. Speaking with Danny Murphy and Evan Real on SiriusXM’s Page Six Radio, Flair addressed the nepo baby label head-on while also describing a father who took time to fully appreciate what his daughter was doing before becoming her loudest advocate.

“Well, I’m like number one nepo baby. My dad was a wrestler, which we all know. So obviously it was easier to get in the door, but once I was given that opportunity, the chip on my shoulder has always been there. I approached wrestling as I did volleyball, gymnastics, diving, basketball — athleticism has always been my strong suit and I loved it,” Flair said. On her father’s early engagement with her career, she revealed it took longer than many might expect. “He didn’t give me any advice. I don’t think he even gave the women the time or day that they deserved. And then it even took him like two years to even get into what I was doing. But now he won’t shut up.”
