Rey Fenix appears to have publicly called out WWE over his current booking situation, posting a pointed reaction to a Penta title defense announcement that has drawn immediate attention from fans. Replying to WWE’s post promoting Penta’s Saturday Night’s Main Event defense of the Intercontinental Championship against Ethan Page, Fenix wrote, “I love my brother, but i will like to have my chance. 🙌🏻 #AN1M0” His response can be viewed on X here.
The post immediately drew attention because Fenix has barely been featured on SmackDown lately, despite arriving with significant fanfare following his AEW exit in 2025. Since debuting on the blue brand, Fenix has lost roughly half of his matches and hasn’t captured a singles championship. He currently isn’t involved in any major storyline. In contrast, Penta has quickly become one of Raw’s biggest babyfaces, scoring major wins over Dominik Mysterio, Finn Balor, and Kofi Kingston before retaining the Intercontinental Championship at WrestleMania 42 in a chaotic ladder match.
Adding context to the post is the fact that Fenix’s last proper televised WWE match took place in February on SmackDown, where he lost to Trick Williams. That extended absence from meaningful television makes his social media reaction stand out even more, especially while Penta continues to be heavily featured on Raw as one of WWE’s breakout success stories of 2026. Whether the tweet was genuine frustration or simply a creative shoot at the Intercontinental Championship picture remains to be seen, but it has clearly put a spotlight on the contrast between how WWE has handled the two brothers. With Penta defending against Page on May 23, the comparison will only intensify until SmackDown gives Fenix something to work with.
