Finn Balor Just Told A Story About Dominik Mysterio That Explains Everything About His Rise

Finn Balor revealed on Stephanie McMahon’s What’s Your Story? podcast that Dominik Mysterio has never pre-planned a promo, recalling the moment he found that out backstage before their first Judgment Day segment together.

Balor had promised Rey Mysterio he would look out for Dominik when the younger Mysterio joined the faction. The reality, as Balor recounts it, went differently.

“I’ll never forget — I’ll tell a story about Dominik Mysterio. So, Dominik comes into The Judgment Day and he’s just turned from babyface to heel, and we’re going out to deliver our first group Judgment Day promo on Raw, and I’d kind of told Rey, ‘Hey, I’m gonna look out for Dominik. If he needs any help, I’ll try and guide him as best as I can,’ and we’re about to go out for the promo in Gorilla and I said, ‘Hey Dominik, do you wanna come outside Gorilla and go over your promo with me?’ So, we go outside Gorilla and I say, ‘Okay, so, do you wanna tell me what you’re gonna say?'”

Dominik told him he didn’t know what he was going to say and would figure it out once he got in front of the crowd. Balor added that approach has been Mysterio’s method ever since, and that from day one it has been Dominik helping the Judgment Day rather than the group helping him.

Balor and Mysterio clashed in a Street Fight at WrestleMania 42, which Balor won.
