Ludwig Kaiser has pleaded not guilty to a battery charge stemming from an incident at his Orlando apartment building on April 23, with his legal team filing a motion to allow him to continue travelling for WWE while the case is active, per PWInsider.
The arrest affidavit reveals that the alleged victim, Richard Reap, told police he encountered Kaiser and a woman in an elevator at the Paramount on Lake Eola apartment complex, where Kaiser resides. According to the affidavit, the couple were acting in an “uncontrollably intimate” manner inside the elevator. After exiting on the 12th floor, Reap told the pair to “please have some manners.” The affidavit alleges Kaiser immediately began punching Reap multiple times, pushed him to the ground, and continued the attack. Police documented a scratch on the back of Reap’s head and redness consistent with a recent altercation.
Kaiser learned of the arrest warrant on May 19 while in Mexico for WWE and AAA business. He flew back to Orlando the following day and turned himself in voluntarily. His legal team noted he has no prior criminal record anywhere in the world.
The motion to allow travel states: “Mr. Barthel is an international performer who is required to travel throughout the United States and around the world to remain employed. He maintains his innocence and has retained undersigned counsel to assist him in this matter. He has every intention of appearing at all required court appearances related to these allegations.”
Kaiser is scheduled to face Chad Gable in a Mask vs. Mask match at Noches de Los Grandes in Monterrey, Mexico on May 30. The affidavit reflects allegations and police findings in support of the warrant and is not a determination of guilt.
