The AEW Star Who Came Back Faster Than Expected — And Made The Most Dramatic Entrance Possible When He Did

Kyle Fletcher has revealed he avoided surgery for the meniscus tear and bone fractures he suffered in March, describing the news as a relief given initial projections had put his chances of needing an operation at 90 percent.

Fletcher announced the update in a vlog posted online.

“I don’t have to have surgery. Awesome news. I was given initially 90 percent chance of surgery. No surgery required. Just healing.”

Fletcher tore his meniscus and suffered fractures in his ankle and the top of his tibia during a tag match on the March 28 episode of Collision, vacating the AEW TNT Championship as a result. He was cleared to begin ring work on May 15 and cleared by AEW doctors shortly after, allowing him to return at Double or Nothing on Sunday — where he immediately turned on Konosuke Takeshita following Takeshita’s AEW International Championship win.

After the show, Fletcher reflected on coming back.

“We’re back on the job. All of a sudden, it’s just — I’m back to being on the road, back to my old life. It’s very exciting. It feels like a chapter has closed today, and now I get to look forward. Bright horizons, happy days ahead. I get to go back to living my dream, loving life, traveling the world, and dropping people on their f***ing heads, which I love to do.”
