Ronda Rousey On 17-Second Return Win Criticism: ‘It’s My Third Fastest Fight — What Were You Expecting?’

Ronda Rousey has pushed back on criticism of her 17-second armbar victory over Gina Carano on May 16, pointing out the result was in line with her historical pace and questioning what critics were expecting.

Speaking on Up and Adams with Kay Adams, Rousey was direct.

“First off, it’s my third fastest fight. What are you talking about? What were you expecting?”

Rousey also addressed Holly Holm’s public rematch callout during the same appearance, but said the motivation to pursue redemption for her only career loss to Holm no longer exists for her.

“I would clean her clock, but that redemption is no longer important to me.”

Rousey has said she is returning to retirement following the Carano win. She previously defeated Cat Zingano in 14 seconds at UFC 184 in 2015.
