Blake Monroe Reveals Injury Suffered During NXT Title Match

Blake Monroe recently reflected on the controversial finish to her NXT Women’s North American Title match against Thea Hail. The bout took place on the December 16th, 2025, edition of NXT television. The botched ending led to Hail becoming the new champion. It officially ended Monroe’s first title run in the developmental company.

Monroe lost the title to Hail due to miscommunication after having the wind knocked out of her during a spot. She addressed the entire situation during an appearance on the Notsam Wrestling podcast. She also revealed she damaged cartilage in her ribs around Christmas time after the physical match. During the interview, Monroe didn’t hold back her true feelings about the sequence of events.

She revealed that she is frustrated that Thea Hail will now be permanently linked to her career history. She admitted the situation affected her emotionally behind the scenes. The former champ further acknowledged the shocking defeat and criticized the referee for a fast count. Monroe stated, “Yes. I mean, look, the negative is Thea Hail will always be attached to me now.”

She elaborated on her physical and mental state following the difficult title loss. “I have to wrestle her next week and you’re lucky I’ve shown up today. I was going to go to therapy, but I decided to be a company woman and show up.” Monroe maintained her confidence despite the unfortunate setback in her journey.

“But no, I mean, I think the theme of my career is people will talk about me and who are you if you’re not talked about, to be honest.” She placed the blame squarely on the official who called the match finish. “And it was definitely shocking and I feel like the ref was clearly in a rush to get home.”

Monroe promised to correct the record in the very near future. “I mean, he counted that quick, but um no, it was definitely very exciting and I’m going to get my revenge next week in under three minutes.” The NXT women’s division remains highly competitive with multiple stars vying for television time. Monroe is determined to reclaim her spot at the top of the card.

A decisive victory over Hail would certainly put her back in the championship conversation. NXT is actively building storylines toward the Stand & Deliver premium live event. The show is expected to take place during WrestleMania 42 weekend, which is scheduled for April 18 and 19, 2026, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Monroe hopes to feature prominently on that prestigious developmental showcase.
