Report: Why The Rascalz Kept Their TNA Theme In AEW

Fightful Select reports that The Rascalz keeping their TNA music in AEW was a simple business matter. It wasn’t a matter of AEW buying the exclusive rights to the music from a competitor. Rather, it was because the track already exists in a music library that the company had already licensed. This arrangement means they were free to use the popular song without any additional financial cost.

Dezmond Xavier, Zachary Wentz, and Myron Reed all signed with AEW in January. The dynamic trio made their television debut soon after putting pen to paper. After coming up short in a three-way number one contender’s match, they quickly bounced back. The group defeated FTR on the most recent episode of Collision.

This impressive victory allowed them to earn a future AEW Tag Team title match. The win happened thanks to a timely distraction from The Young Bucks at ringside. Defeating a legendary team like FTR early in their run is a major endorsement from AEW management. The interference from The Young Bucks adds another layer of intrigue to the tag team title picture.

Trey Miguel was originally signed and set to be part of the group in AEW. He is a founding member of the popular faction and a seasoned veteran. However, he was released shortly after signing his deal. This sudden departure occurred due to Warner Bros. Discovery having reservations over tweets he made in the past.

After briefly choosing to step away from wrestling entirely, he returned to TNA. He recently won the International title from Stacks at No Surrender earlier this month. Winning a prestigious singles championship proves his value as a standalone competitor. He has overcome the initial disappointment of the AEW situation to find immediate success elsewhere.

The resilience shown by all members of the original group is highly commendable. Professional wrestling often requires talent to adapt quickly to unforeseen circumstances. Both AEW and TNA benefit from having these dynamic athletes on their respective rosters. The wrestling landscape continues to provide unexpected twists for talented performers.

The Rascalz will now focus on capturing gold in their new promotional home. TNA Wrestling is currently preparing for the Sacrifice event, which will stream on TNA+ on March 27, 2026. Miguel is expected to feature prominently on that card to defend his newly won championship.
