Roman Reigns has offered one of his most sweeping self-assessments yet, positioning himself as the stabilizing force that kept WWE on course during one of the most turbulent periods in the company’s modern history. Speaking with Nico Leonard, Reigns drew a direct line between his own commitment to his character and the company’s ability to weather multiple simultaneous crises.
“After the run, the half-decade that I went through, we turned the business upside down. We were in the most turbulent time of all-time — transitioning into being bought by Endeavor, forming TKO, everything going on with our company in the media. But like any captain in rough seas, just steady at the wheel, doing my thing. No matter what, all this distraction and all this noise — as long as I’m locked into my character and my story, and I go out there with the most compelling art form of pro wrestling and sports entertainment, none of this other bullshit matters. I was able to do that,” Reigns said.
The framing positions Reigns not merely as a wrestling champion but as a cultural anchor — someone whose consistency of performance and character provided a through-line of quality and engagement while the business around him navigated the Endeavor acquisition, Vince McMahon’s resignation amid a sexual assault lawsuit, and the broader uncertainty those events created. Reigns challenges CM Punk for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 42 Night Two on April 19 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.
