Becky Lynch has walked back the certainty that surrounded her comments about her current WWE contract being her final one, clarifying on Insight with Chris Van Vliet that while the possibility exists, nothing is decided. Lynch originally made the statement on season two of WWE Unreal, and the reaction to those words prompted her to provide additional context.
“I didn’t say it with such assuredness as you did. I said it’s probably my last one. I think I said this is likely my last one. That’s not a sure thing, but yeah — no, it might be, could be,” Lynch said. She also elaborated on the factors she is weighing beyond her love of performing. “I don’t know, it could be longer, but you never want to outstay your welcome. Although, I’m in my prime, I can go, plenty left in the tank. But I also have my daughter at home, and maybe I’ll want another one, and at some point, you have to just be happy with what you’ve done.”
Lynch was clear that her passion for performing is not the issue — it is everything surrounding the actual ring work that makes the question of longevity complicated. “The love of what I do, that’s not going anywhere, but there’s a lot that goes in, around it and behind it. You always want to try, but sometimes I just go, ‘What do I want to do? What do I think is fun?'” Lynch is a Grand Slam Champion and main evented WrestleMania 35 alongside Charlotte Flair and Ronda Rousey in a match she won. She challenges AJ Lee for the Women’s Intercontinental Championship at WrestleMania 42 Night One on April 18 — her 10th WrestleMania match — at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.
