Rhea Ripley Reveals She Is Saving Her First Movie Role For Certain Franchise

Rhea Ripley has revealed that her Hollywood debut has been delayed entirely by choice — and when she does make her first film appearance, she has a very specific franchise in mind. Speaking with Shakiel Mahjouri, Ripley disclosed that she has turned down numerous movie opportunities over the years, including a significant role in the acclaimed 2023 film Love Lies Bleeding that ended up going to actress Katy O’Brian.

“I haven’t done a movie yet but I’ve also turned down a lot of movies. I was supposed to be in Love Lies Bleeding — I was supposed to be the bodybuilder chick and I said no. Which then was perfect for me because it skyrocketed the Judgment Day and I made Rhea who she is today and I got to go on that generational run,” Ripley said. The decision to prioritize her wrestling career over the film opportunity proved to be exactly the right call in hindsight — her reign as WWE Women’s Champion and her role in The Judgment Day’s peak period established her as one of the most dominant and celebrated performers in modern professional wrestling history.

On the subject of what her eventual Hollywood debut will look like, Ripley was equally decisive. “I’m really saving my first movie for Terrifier. So, I’m really hoping that it does happen. I want that to be my first.” The franchise’s creator Damien Leone appears receptive to the idea — in November 2025 he noted that a petition for a Ripley cameo role in the fourth film was “not necessary,” suggesting genuine interest from his side as well.

Katy O’Brian Landed the Love Lies Bleeding Role Ripley Declined and Has Since Starred in Multiple Hollywood Films

The role Ripley passed on launched Katy O’Brian’s Hollywood career significantly — she went on to appear in The Running Man and Mission Impossible: The Final Reckoning, among other projects. Ripley’s decision to let that opportunity pass in favor of her wrestling career is a reminder of just how different the trajectory of the last few years could have looked. She challenges Jade Cargill for the WWE Women’s Championship at WrestleMania 42 Night Two on April 19 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.
